Job Details:
Start: ASAP through 2025-2026 School Year
Part-time (with ability to be full-time with Orientation and Mobility capabilities)
Multiple sites
Approximately 12 student caseload (6 additional O&M students)
TK-12th grade
Location: Oakland, CA
Qualifications:
Master's degree in from an accredited institution
Valid state license or certification Education Specialist Instruction Credential: Visual Impairments (R3VB or R3VI)
Demonstrated experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting, with a strong emphasis on supporting those with special needs
Responsibilities:
As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with Birch Agency, you will:
Perform functional vision and learning media assessments
Interpret eye medical reports as they relate to educational environments
Contribute to the development of the IEP
Recommend appropriate specialized evaluations as needed, such as low vision, orientation and mobility, psycho-social, and adaptive physical education
Consult with diagnosticians, classroom teachers, students, and parents concerning appropriate evaluations, modification, and test administration
Provide Braille Instruction
